Alright, so the other day I was looking at getting a new watch, you know? Something fancy but not too over the top. And I stumbled upon this OMEGA Speedmaster Super Racing thing. I’d heard of Speedmasters before, they’re pretty famous, especially the moon landing stuff. But this one caught my eye.
First off, I started digging around online. Just casual browsing, you know, checking out pictures and stuff. Found out this particular model is pretty new, came out in 2023, they said. It’s got this cool black dial with a kind of honeycomb pattern. Looks pretty slick, not gonna lie.
- Browsing: I started by just looking around on the internet.
- Reading: Then I read some articles and forum posts about it.
- Watching: I also watched a few videos on video websites, seeing it in action is always better than just pictures.
Then I got into the nitty-gritty. This thing has something called a “Spirate System”. They started with a caliber 9900 movement, whatever that means, and built it up from there. Sounds complicated, but I guess it makes the watch more accurate, or something. I did read that it’s pretty tough, can handle a lot of punishment. I’m not planning on going to the moon or anything, but it’s good to know it can handle everyday life, right?
So, I started looking at where to buy one. Found a bunch of online stores, some with pretty good prices. And get this, some of them come with an LED display case! Fancy, huh? There were some selling them on Facebook, too. But I’m not sure about buying a watch on Facebook, seems a bit risky, don’t you think?
Digging Deeper
I found a place called Chrono24 where people buy and sell used watches. Lots of these Speedmasters on there, some for a decent price. They say they have “Buyer Protection”, which sounds good, but I’m still a bit wary of buying used. You never know what you’re gonna get.
Then I thought, maybe I should just go to a store and see one in person. Found a Best Buy that’s not too far from me, apparently, they sell them. I might just pop in there this weekend, see what they have. The address is 55 Hotel Cir NE in Albuquerque, NM 87123 or something, just remember the Hotel Cir NE part, I guess.
Anyway, that’s where I’m at with this whole watch thing. It’s a bit of a process, but hey, it’s fun learning about this stuff. I might just end up with a shiny new Speedmaster on my wrist soon. Who knows?
Oh, and one last thing I found out. Apparently, some older Speedmasters are discontinued, like, stopped making them in 2018. They say those might be worth more money in the future. Maybe this new one will be like that someday? Could be a good investment, I guess. But I just want a cool watch, to be honest.
