Alright, folks, gather around! Today, I’m diving into something a bit different – a little DIY project that’s been on my mind for a while. I’ve always been a huge fan of Yves Saint Laurent (YSL), especially their stunning handbags. But let’s be real, those price tags can be a bit…ouch. So, I thought, why not try my hand at remaking one of their iconic designs? The one I chose was the JUNE BOX BAG. It is stylish.
First things first, I needed to find a good base to work with. I decided to purchase a similar box bag online. I did a lot of browsing and finally found one that had the right shape and size. It was a bit of a gamble, but when it arrived, I was pretty happy with the quality and how close it looked to the original YSL design. It was kind of plain, but that’s exactly what I needed.
Next up was the fun part – adding that YSL flair! I wanted to recreate the logo as accurately as possible. I went online and printed out several versions of the YSL logo in different sizes. I cut them out carefully and played around with placement on the bag. I tried different spots and angles until I found the perfect one that matched the real deal. Once I was happy with the placement, I had to figure out how to permanently attach it.
- Finding the Right Materials: I needed something that would mimic the look of the original YSL hardware. I searched and tried a few different options, I eventually found some metallic decals that looked pretty spot on.
- Prepping the Bag: I used a cleaner to make sure the surface of the bag was free of any oils or dirt. This would help the decals and paint adhere better.
- Applying the Logo: This was the most nerve-wracking part! I carefully positioned the printed logo on the bag and traced it lightly with a pencil. Then, using a small brush and the metallic paint, I painstakingly filled in the outline. It took a few coats to get it looking just right, and I had to let each coat dry completely before applying the next.
After the logo was done, I moved on to the other details. The original JUNE BOX BAG has a distinct stitching pattern around the edges. To replicate this, I used a thin, silver paint marker to draw on the faux stitches. It was tedious work, but the end result was worth it. I tried to make it look as neat as possible, but hey, a little imperfection adds character, right?
Finally, the bag was nearly complete! The last step was to add a protective sealant over the logo and the painted stitches. This would help prevent chipping and ensure the design would last longer. I used a clear, matte sealant that I found. I applied a thin, even coat and let it dry overnight.
And there you have it! My very own “remade” YSL JUNE BOX BAG. It’s not perfect, but I’m pretty proud of how it turned out. It definitely captures the essence of the original, and it was a fun project to work on. Plus, I saved a ton of money, which is always a good thing! Of course, it’s not the same as owning a real YSL bag, but it’s a fun alternative for those of us who love the style but not the price tag. The original YSL bags are known for their quality and craftsmanship, and they do hold their value well, so they’re definitely an investment. But for a fun DIY project, this was a great experience.
