Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with this Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Perpetual Calendar, the specialty store version, and I’ve gotta share my whole experience. It’s been a bit of a journey, let me tell you.
First off, I spent a while looking for information about this watch. I mean, this isn’t just any watch, it’s a JLC, and a pretty fancy one at that. I stumbled upon a forum post – a guy named Pedalo was asking about it, and there were a few replies. I guess I wasn’t the only one interested. Then I found another thread about some enamel version from APS. Not exactly what I was looking for, but still interesting.
Anyway, I finally figured out that this is the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Perpetual Calendar. I read that there are three different versions, one of them with a rose gold case and an eggshell dial. That one’s nice, but I’m more of a stainless steel kind of guy.
- I learned that the one I’m interested in is called Ref: 1308470. It’s got this black, sunray-brushed dial and polished rhodium-plated appliques. Sounds fancy, right?
- I started digging deeper, because, you know, that’s what you do when you’re obsessed with a watch.
- I found a review with a bunch of high-resolution pictures. Looked pretty slick.
I got to know that it’s got this in-house Calibre 868 movement. And the size? 39mm in diameter, 9.4mm thick, and 45.7mm lug-to-lug. Seems like a good size for my wrist. Also, I read that JLC is like, a top-tier brand. A real classic, even before Rolex was really a thing.
My Findings
So, yeah, I dove headfirst into this whole JLC Master Ultra Thin Perpetual Calendar thing. I watched some video, read some reviews, and browsed through forums. It’s been a fun, if a little obsessive, few days. I’m still not sure if I’ll pull the trigger and get one, but I’m definitely leaning that way. I just need to sleep on it, maybe sell a kidney…just kidding.
This watch is definitely a looker, and from what I gathered, it’s a solid piece of watchmaking. I think I’m falling for it, hard. We’ll see what happens.
