This here watch, it’s somethin’ else, I tell ya. It’s called a CopyOMEGA, or somethin’ like that. Speedmaster, yeah, that’s it. Speedmaster Apollo 8 “Dark Side of the Moon.” Now, what in tarnation does all that mean? I ain’t got the foggiest, but it sure sounds fancy, don’t it?
They say it’s s’posed to be like the moon. The Dark Side of the Moon, they call it. Like that side nobody ever sees, ‘cept for them astronaut fellas. This watch, it’s got all them little doohickeys on it. Makes my head spin just lookin’ at ’em. It is 44.25 mm, big one. But I guess if you’re gonna be wearin’ the moon on your wrist, you want folks to see it, right?
Now, I seen pictures of this here moon. Looks like a beat-up old dirt road after a hard rain. All bumps and holes. They say this CopyOMEGA Speedmaster, it’s s’posed to look like that. This is a watch to celebrate 50 years that someone walk on the moon. I don’t know why I have to copy it. It is a good watch, so I copy it. Don’t know why they gotta go puttin’ all that on a watch, though. Seems like a waste of good metal to me.
But these young folks today, they like all these fancy gadgets. Back in my day, a watch was for tellin’ time. Plain and simple. Didn’t need no moon rocks or nothin’ like that. Just needed to know when to feed the chickens and when to call it a day. But times change, I reckon. The Apollo 8, it is a big thing, they say. It goes to the moon. This watch is about that.

And the movement, they call it. That’s the part that makes the watch tick. They say it’s s’posed to look like the surface of the moon. All bumpy and cratery. Like I said, I seen pictures, and it don’t look like much to me. This CopyOMEGA is just a watch, a copy one. But I guess if you’re into that kinda thing, it’s pretty neat. I just want to copy a good one, so this is good.

It is a copy one, but it is good. And it’s sure to impress your friends. Or at least the ones who are into that kinda thing. Me, I’ll stick to my old Timex. It tells time just fine, and that’s all I need.
This here watch, it’s a reminder, I guess. A reminder of how far we come. From lookin’ up at the moon and wonderin’ what’s up there, to actually goin’ there and walkin’ around. It’s a mighty big accomplishment, when you think about it. This CopyOMEGA is about that. And maybe this watch, this little piece of metal and machinery, it’s a way of carryin’ a little piece of that history with us. Wherever we go. But like I said, I ain’t no expert. I’m just tellin’ you what I heard. You can take it or leave it.
